Let's Talk About Sciatica: A Message From Dr. K

If you've been dealing with sharp, burning, or shooting pain down your leg, I want to start with something important:

I believe you.

Sciatic pain is brutal. It's intense, it's unpredictable, and it can make you feel like a prisoner in your own body. When pain affects how you sit, stand, walk, or sleep, it affects everything : your work, your relationships, your peace of mind.

You deserve to understand what's happening. And more than that, you deserve relief.

What Sciatica Actually Is (In Plain English)

The sciatic nerve runs from your lower back, through your hips, and all the way down your legs. When something presses on or irritates this nerve, it sends pain signals that can feel absolutely electric.

This pressure might come from:

  • A herniated or bulging disc
  • Deep tension in your hip or glute muscles
  • Spinal alignment issues
  • Inflammation around the nerve itself

None of these means you're broken. It just means something in your body needs support and release.

What My Patients Tell Me It Feels Like

People describe sciatica in all kinds of ways:

  • Sharp, electric shocks down the leg
  • A deep, relentless ache in the hip or glute
  • Tingling or numbness that comes and goes
  • Pain that gets worse when you sit, stand, or move in certain ways

And here's what I tell every single one of them:

You are not supposed to just live with this.

How I Approach Your Sciatica

There is no cookie-cutter treatment plan in my office. Your body is unique, your pain is unique, and your recovery plan needs to be unique, too.

We'll look at:

  • The exact source of your nerve irritation
  • How your spine and hips are moving (or not moving)
  • The connection between your daily posture and nerve response
  • Habits that might be contributing without you even realizing it

From there, we build a recovery plan that might include:

  • Gentle decompression to take pressure off the nerve
  • Improving hip mobility and flexibility
  • Stabilizing your core and lower back support systems
  • Pain relief strategies that respect your nervous system instead of overwhelming it

We move at your body's pace, not faster. No pushing through. No "toughing it out." Just steady, supportive progress.

You Can Feel Like Yourself Again

Most of my patients start seeing real improvement once we target the right areas with the right care. And many get back to walking comfortably, sitting without fear, and sleeping through the night again—without constantly worrying about the next flare-up.

If sciatica has been quietly (or not so quietly) taking over your life, come talk to me. We'll take this step-by-step together, and I'll be with you the whole way.
